Ervin

I grew up in a family of artists, so I started making art at a very young age. But, being rebellious,  I was the only person in my family who didn’t go to art school; instead I pursued journalism and special education for many years. Art found me again in my 30s, and I have spent the majority of the last 25 years making, creating, selling and teaching art. I am a mixed media artist, and my favorite mediums are drawing, painting, fiber art and collage. I’ve also created puppetry, sculpture and comics. My art focuses a lot on storytelling, imagination and uplifting humanity. For me, art is a way to connect both with myself and the world around me.

Why I love working at Studio Forget Me Not.

Since 2007, I have focused most of my teaching on supporting artists with disabilities. Like artists, people with disabilities see and experience the world differently, so it feels like a very natural connection for me. When I walk into Studio Forget Me Not, I feel hope, possibility and excitement. We have established an atmosphere of creative nourishment that sees every artist as being on their own individual path. Our job as instructors is to be their guide on that very unique and personal artistic journey. It’s satisfying to work in a team of talented, caring, skilled instructors. There is no greater joy than to watch these artists discover who they are and what they are capable of. It’s magical.
