Frequently Asked Questions
What is Studio Forget-Me-Not? Studio Forget-Me-Not is an art studio dedicated to nurturing the talents of adults with intellectual disabilities and neurodivergence. Located in the heart of downtown Carnegie, PA, we offer a vibrant, inclusive space where artists can explore their creativity, develop their skills, and share their work with the world.
What is your mission? Our mission is to help each artist grow personally and professionally — opening pathways to independence, meaningful self-expression, and gainful employment through their art.
Where are you located? We are located at 329 E. Main Street, Carnegie, PA 15106.
What are your hours? We are open Tuesday through Friday, 10am to 5pm, and Saturday, 12pm to 5pm.
Who can participate in classes? Our classes are designed for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We also welcome visiting artists and participants from a range of partner agencies, making Studio Forget-Me-Not a diverse and accessible community for all.
Do you offer children's classes or birthday parties?
We focus exclusively on adults with intellectual disabilities (ID) and autism. This is the heart of our mission — because unlike children, who have access to school-based supports and a wide range of community programs, adults with ID and autism often have very few dedicated spaces and resources available to them. We are proud to be one of those spaces.
What kinds of classes do you offer? We offer classes in a wide range of mediums, including painting, drawing, and sculpture; textiles, sewing, and jewelry making; and clay and ceramics (including on a wheelchair-accessible pottery wheel).
Do your teachers have art backgrounds? Yes! All of our teachers are practicing artists, and most of them have experience working with people with disabilities.
Do you have classes all week? We offer art classes on Mondays and Wednesdays for adults with intellectual disabilities and autism. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, we run our Next Level program — a waiver-funded program for artists who want to take their work to the next level.
How do I sign up for classes? You can sign up directly on our website at studioforgetmenot.org. Online registration is required, as we have limited seats available.
Can I just drop in? We ask that everyone register in advance. Because we have limited seating, we cannot guarantee a spot for drop-ins.
How much do classes cost? Art classes are $10 per class. The Next Level program is free for participants, but it does need to be funded through waiver funding.
What is the Next Level program, and how do I join? Next Level is a full-day program that runs Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. It's designed for artists who want to develop their work more seriously. To participate, you need to be independent — able to manage a full day at the studio — and bring a packed lunch. Funding for the program is provided through waiver funding.
Why don't you have art classes Tuesday, Thursday and Friday? Those days are dedicated to our Next Level program — a specialized, waiver-funded program for artists who are ready to commit to their craft at a deeper level.
Do participants need their own transportation to the studio? Yes. Participants arrange their own transportation. Some come via ACCESS, and others are brought by staff or family members.
Do artists earn money from the sale of their work? Yes! Artists who choose to sell their work can do so through our in-house Gallery Forget-Me-Not space. They keep 100% of what their work sells for — every dollar goes directly to them.
Do you have special art shows? Yes! From May through October, we participate in Second Fridays — a monthly art opening where we stay open late to showcase our artists' work. It's a wonderful opportunity to meet our artists and see their creations in person.
Is the studio open to the public? Yes! Studio Forget-Me-Not has regular retail hours open to the public. Come visit us to see and purchase artwork made by our talented artists.
Do you take volunteers? We love community support! If you'd like to volunteer for a special event — such as our Summer Art Shows — please reach out and let us know. We don't have a need for volunteers during classes, as participants are already accompanied by their support staff and teachers. We do require clearances for people who volunteer at events.
How can I support Studio Forget-Me-Not? You can support us by purchasing artwork from our gallery, making a donation through our website, joining our mailing list to stay connected, or partnering with us as an organization or sponsor.
How do I get in touch? You can reach us by email at lstuart@nfhcs.org or cdarr@nfhcs.org. We'd love to hear from you!
